A family from the village of Gastello in the Poronaisky District of the Sakhalin Region is expanding an agricultural project using free land plots received under the “Hectare” program. Vladislav Mikheev spoke about his family livestock farm and the experience of using the "Far Eastern hectares" of the Far East and Arctic Development Corporation (FEDC). Currently, a meat production workshop and a smokehouse operate on the land they received – the farmers have mastered the production of 5 types of sausages, meat chips, and various smoked meat delicacies.
He emphasized that the ability to choose the location, contour and area of the plot was very important for the success of the project. The land was taken by the whole family and the first, already developed "Far Eastern hectares" were received as property. Processing shops and an agricultural machinery base were located on the plots. At present, farmers have taken additional land - this right is acquired after the successful development of the first "hectare".
The “Hectare” program, implemented by the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East jointly with the FEDC, has become an example of a state initiative focused on the needs of the people. It gives every Russian citizen the right to simply, quickly and free of charge take a plot of land in the fastest-growing regions of the country for housing construction, business or agricultural development. According to the FEDC, 150.5 thousand people have already taken "Far Eastern and Arctic hectares."
