Multimedia exhibition dedicated to the Far East and the Arctic opens in Expo 2020 Dubai

In the Russian Pavilion members of the global business community will be able to learn about the advantages of carrying out investment projects in the Far Eastern Federal District and the Arctic.

The exhibition space of the Far East and Arctic Development Corporation, a unified development institution, and the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East and Arctic has been launched as part of the Expo 2020 World Universal Exhibition, which is being held in Dubai from October 2021 to March 2022. The central stand of the Russian Pavilion features a modern multimedia exhibition dedicated to the investment potential of the regions of the Far East and the Arctic, and to current state measures to support both investors and the regions’ inhabitants. A series of business events involving potential international investors are also planned.

The Expo is the most famous and largest global exhibition, and is held every five years, each time in a different country. Expo 2020 will last for 6 months, its central theme is: “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future.” The theme of the Russian Pavilion is: “Creative mind: Driving the future.” About 25 million visitors from 192 countries are expected to attend over the exhibition period.

For one month, in the conference hall of the Russian Pavilion, visitors to Expo 2020 will be able to see 8 industry roadshows and presentations of key investment projects in the Far Eastern Federal District and the Arctic Zone of the Russian Federation. A number of investment agreements are scheduled to be signed.

- The Far East and the Arctic are strategically important regions not just for Russia, but also at a global level. During the month in the Russian Pavilion, we will provide potential international investors with detailed information about the unique preferential regimes operating in the two macro-regions, the benefits that are being offered, the major projects in various industries, both planned and currently under way, projects in need of investment, investment ideas and other development tools. “For one month, the Far East and Arctic regions will become the focus of attention in the Russian Pavilion”, said Roman Chichkanov, the FEDC’s Deputy General Director for Investments.  

From November 14 - 18, nine industry presentations are planned at Expo 2020 as part of the business program of the Corporation and the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East and Arctic. In particular, the creation of an innovative scientific and technological center on Russky island in Primorsky Territory will be discussed during the presentation “Changing the structure of the world’s economy through innovation and digitization.” As part of the topic “The Northern Sea Route and prospects for the development of transportation infrastructure in the Russian Far East and the Arctic,” the strategically important issue of the future of the NSR will be discussed.

There will also be presentations on the accessibility of the Russian Far East and the Arctic regions by air, the potential of the tourism industry, the rich mineral resources in the Far Eastern Federal District and the Arctic Zone of the Russian Federation, the agro-industrial complex, and the opportunities offered by hydrogen energy and distributed generation projects to ensure the supply of energy to remote territories in the Far East and the Arctic.

At the center of the FEDC’s business program will be a session dedicated to key projects, including presentations on landmark projects, success stories and new initiatives. In addition to the presentations, round tables and business negotiations with foreign partners are also planned. In November, representatives of the FEDC and the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East and Arctic will also participate in 10 international events on the main Expo 2020 program.
