The Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East supports the concept of renovating shopping arcades “Gostiny Ryad” as a key element of the Ulan-Ude city master plan

The International Forum of Creative Industries, "Created in the Far East: From Content to Capital," summarized the work of the "Gostinye Ryady 2.0" project workshop. Over the course of two days, its participants—potential residents, partners, tour operators, the cluster operator, representatives of urban communities, and government agencies—integrated the social contract with the strategic development plan for the facility. The resulting concept was presented by Deputy Minister for the Development of the Russian Far East Elvira Nurgalieva on the final day of the forum.

"The key step that needs to be taken is to engage the entire “Gostiny Ryad” shopping arcades area in the overall initiative. The entire master plan—through a single pedestrian street, through the development of the entire existing urban area, including the museum, the campus, and “Gostiny Ryad”—will only work as a whole," Elvira Nurgalieva outlined the objective.

The “Gostinodvorskiye Rows” shopping arcades, built in 1839, is a historically significant commercial and trade building located in the historic center of Ulan-Ude. Originally built in the 19th century as a center for urban trade, hosting Siberia's largest fair and along the Great Tea Route, it today represents a unique architectural and cultural landmark in need of comprehensive renovation.
