Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East: Residents of preferential regimes in the Far Eastern Federal District paid twice as much in taxes as they received in benefits

A roundtable discussion entitled "Current Issues in the Implementation of Investment Projects in the Far Eastern Federal District: Problems and Solutions" was held as part of the Eastern Economic Forum. The key topic of the discussion was preparations for the launch of a Unified advanced development area (UEDA), which will consolidate existing support mechanisms in the Far East and the Arctic, as well as identifying ways to remove administrative and financial barriers for businesses. The event was organized by the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East, the Far East and Arctic Development Corporation (FEDC), and the Union of Preferential Regime Residents.

Sergei Litvyakov, Director of the Department of State Support and Technological Development of the Far East and Arctic at the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East, cited data demonstrating the high budgetary effectiveness of current incentives, despite ongoing debate about their appropriateness.

"Over a ten-year period, tax revenues from residents of preferential regimes have doubled the total amount of benefits provided, demonstrating the budgetary effectiveness of support measures," the speaker stated.
