Mikhail Mishustin: The government continues to provide large support to the regions

On March 23, Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin addressed the State Duma with an annual report on the work for 2022. Considerable attention in the report was paid to the results of activity on the development of the Far East and the Arctic.

“In 2022, despite external challenges a great deal has been done to improve the quality of life of people in the Far East and the Arctic zone. The main issue is related to the improvement of their living conditions. Almost 26,000 families took advantage of the preferential housing lending program in the Far East in 2022. As part of the instruction of the President, the duration of the preferential program was extended until December 31, 2030.

A program is being implemented to support complex development projects in the cities of the Far Eastern Federal District - the “Far Eastern Quarter”. The project involves complex development in macro-regional cities with all the necessary social infrastructure facilities. Seven pilot sites have already been selected, where more than 2 million square meters of housing will be built.

A tool has been created - the presidential "Unified Subsidy", which was extended to the Arctic. “Thanks to this mechanism, in the Far Eastern regions last year alone, residents received over 1.2 thousand well-maintained public spaces. Social facilities for medicine, education, and sports were built. All of them are created so that citizens have the opportunity to use modern services,” the Prime Minister noted.

In his speech, Mikhail Mishustin touched upon the issues of transport accessibility of the Far East. On behalf of the President of the Russian Federation, the Unified Far Eastern Airline was created based on “Aurora” company with the participation of regional carriers to ensure stable, safe and affordable regional air traffic. In 2022, 350 thousand people used air tickets at affordable prices. The program has been extended for 3 years; the number of routes has been doubled.

Another strategically important task of the state is the development of the Northern Sea Route (NSR). Cargo transportation along the NSR in 2022 amounted to 34 million tons; the figure exceeded the target by 2 million tons.

By the end of next year, it is planned to increase the throughput capacity of the Eastern Railway Range to 180 million tons.

The report of the Government of the Russian Federation in the State Duma is an annual event. The Cabinet of Ministers reports on the results of its activities, including on issues raised by State Duma deputies.
