Master plans for the Arctic Zone of the Russian Federation: Novy Urengoy strengthens its status as the gas capital of Russia and a modern northern city

One of the largest projects is the master plan for Novy Urengoy, the gas capital of Russia and the largest city in Yamal. The document outlines the city's development as a center for global gas production, advanced technologies for developing hard-to-recover reserves, personnel training, and a modern urban environment providing comfortable living and working conditions in the Arctic. The master plan envisions further strengthening Novy Urengoy's industrial specialization as a center for natural gas production and processing, as well as improving technologies for developing hard-to-recover reserves in the Nadym-Pur-Taz region. Implementation of this objective is in line with the instructions of the President of Russia and the Government of Russia to launch a program for developing hard-to-recover and low-margin gas reserves. This will preserve existing jobs and infrastructure, create new production and service facilities, attract additional investment, and stabilize budget revenues.
