Small-scale generation is the key to developing remote regions of Russia

The Far East and Arctic Development Corporation (FEDC) participated in the scientific and practical conference "Energy Dialogue Territory," held as part of “Russian Energy Week”. A panel session, "New Era: Small-Scale Generation, Big Economic Benefits," was held jointly with the Agency for Strategic Initiatives and the Russian Energy Agency. Representatives from small technology companies, large businesses, infrastructure organizations, and government agencies participated.

According to Maxim Gubanov, head of the energy and housing and communal services department at the FEDC, who moderated the discussion, small-scale distributed energy is the foundation for ensuring the spatial development of the Russian Federation in hard-to-reach and isolated areas.

"The distributed energy sector is rapidly developing amid rising electricity costs in the Unified Energy System and the increasing complexity of connecting new consumers. Small technology companies are leading the way, ready to address local energy supply issues quickly and with private investment. It's important to harness this potential to address pressing government challenges in developing remote areas and to create effective public-private partnership mechanisms for this sector," said Maxim Gubanov.
