The best projects of the Arctic macroregion were presented at the “Russia” exhibition
At the International Exhibition-Forum "Russia" within the framework of the Days of the Far East and Arctic Regions, a presentation of master plans for bearing settlements in the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation (AZRF) took place. During the plenary session “The Russian Arctic - the path to the future”, long-term plans for the comprehensive socio-economic development of four of the 16 agglomerations included in the list of bearing settlements in the Arctic zone were presented. They will become the basis for the implementation of economic and infrastructure projects: Kem-Belomorskaya in the Republic of Karelia, Arkhangelsk, the city of Pevek in the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug, as well as the cities of Novy Urengoy and Noyabrsk in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug.
Welcoming the session participants, Alexey Chekunkov, Minister of the Russian Federation for the Development of the Far East and Arctic, noted that bearing cities are strategically important settlements, the state support of which will be provided on a systematic basis in order to improve the quality of life of northerners. By order of the President, basic documents on the development of human settlements until 2035 must be ready by July 1 of this year, and by October 1, on their basis, a comprehensive plan for the long-term socio-economic development of 16 agglomerations of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation must be approved.
