The Kuril Islands will become the center of mariculture

On the sidelines of the 7th Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok, an agreement was signed to promote the development of mariculture in the Kuriles, the inflow of private capital and the creation of new enterprises. The document was signed by Governor of the Sakhalin Region Valery Limarenko, Head of the Federal Agency for Fisheries Ilya Shestakov and Director General of the Corporation for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic Nikolai Zapryagaev.

Experts consider the waters around Kunashir and the Lesser Kuril Ridge to be the most promising area for mariculture. The approximate area is more than 50 thousand hectares.

In the Kuril Islands in 2022, a unique business regime was created with unprecedented tax benefits - zeroing for 20 years.
