The country's largest theatre schools are holding their first admissions campaign in the Far East

In the Far East, branches of three leading Russian theatre universities are conducting an admissions campaign: the Boris Shchukin Theatre Institute in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, VGIK in Khabarovsk and GITIS in Blagoveshchensk. In 2025, 85 places have been allocated for full-time and part-time education in three educational organizations. The branches of educational institutions are becoming part of the emerging ecosystem of training personnel for the creative industries of the Far Eastern Federal District. On October 14, 2024, a branch of the Boris Shchukin Theatre Institute opened in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk at the Sakhalin State University. The first classes will start on September 1, 2025. The selection is carried out in the specialty "Actor of Drama Theatre and Cinema". At least 16 people will be admitted to budget places, another 8 will be accepted on a commercial basis. "The Admissions Committee of the Boris Shchukin Theatre Institute has taken on the great responsibility of recruiting young people who are ready to connect their lives with the acting profession. It is important not to miss those who not only want, but can become an actor. This year's admissions campaign is large-scale and intense. The region needs young people staying on Sakhalin, so that those who want to serve in the Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk theater and in other theaters of the Far East come to us,” commented Tatyana Korneeva, director of the branch of the B. Shchukin Theater Institute.
