The Russian Far East and Arctic Development Corporation (FEDC) has held a Round Table on the development of the agro-industrial complex in the Far East

As part of its preparations for the 7th Eastern Economic Forum, the Russian Far East and Arctic Development Corporation held a round table in its Media Center to discuss issues including making the Federal District self-sufficient in terms of agricultural production, developing a soil-improvement facility and cultivating unused farmland in order to grow animal feed crops.

Currently the Far East is only able to grow 24% of the greenhouse crops which it consumes. By 2028 more than 80 ha of modern greenhouse facilities are to be constructed in the FEFD, which will increase its self sufficiency level for fresh vegetables by 70%. Under a program organized by the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East and Arctic, companies that build greenhouse facilities in the Far East will be able to claim government subsidies equal to 20% of their direct expenditure.

"The results of the discussions will be incorporated into proposals for systemic reforms and new state support measures for the agricultural sector, which will be submitted to the President of the Russian Federation within the framework of the Eastern Economic Forum to be held in Vladivostok from 5-8 September," said Abdurazak Razakov, head of the FEDC's Department for Sector Expertise and moderator of the round table, following the completion of the event.
