At the X WEF, the country's President Vladimir Putin gave instructions to develop a model for the formation of the Trans-Arctic Transport Corridor (TTC) as an integral spatial logistics project focused on the sustainable development of the entire country. The TTC is intended to become an integrated system that unites all modes of transport in order to connect the Northern Sea Route with the inland regions and the Far East, ensure sustainable cargo flow and increase economic returns to the regions. It will also strengthen the country's national security. In this regard, the role of seaports located along the Arctic coast is significantly increasing.
FEDC representative Diana Migrin emphasized: “The development of deep-water ports in the Arctic is not just an investment in infrastructure, it is a contribution to the future of Russia, strengthening its position on the world stage and an incentive for the integrated development of regions in related industries. The development of the Trans-Arctic Transport Corridor is of particular importance. The implementation of infrastructure projects in this direction requires the attraction of strategic investors and the implementation of modern technological solutions.”
Today, the key projects in this area are the construction of a coal complex in the Murmansk region with a forecast cargo turnover of 18 million tons at the 2nd stage, a project for the construction of a transshipment complex for liquefied natural gas from Arc7 ice-class LNG tankers to conventional gas tankers, as well as a number of projects to expand and modernize the fleet in order to carry out cargo transportation in NSR zone.
