FEDC supported the "Birariya" ethnic culture festival, which drew over 1,600 guests to the Tunguska River in the Jewish Autonomous District

The festival in the Jewish Autonomous District aims to preserve cultural heritage and to develop the territory's creative industries and tourism potential.

More than 1,600 people attended the 4th "Birariya" Ethno-Festival, held on September 26 at the “Edelweiss” recreation center in the settlement of Nikolayevka, Jewish Autonomous District. Participants included residents of the Jewish Autonomous District, Khabarovsky and Amursky Regions, as well as guests from China. The event was supported by the Presidential Foundation for Cultural Initiatives and the Corporation for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic (FEDC).

Creative projects rooted in a region's cultural heritage can become independent hubs of economic and tourism activity. Now in its multiple-year run, the "Biraria" festival demonstrates how this format can simultaneously preserve traditions, create opportunities for local entrepreneurs—including traditional artisans—develop the hospitality industry, and open up new tourist routes. For the Jewish Autonomous District, this is particularly important in terms of promoting a unique cultural product and attracting visitors from other regions of the Russian Far East and bordering areas of China," said Vyacheslav Zavalin, Director of the Regional Development Department at the Far East and Arctic Development Corporation.
