Yury Trutnev, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation and Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District, visited the Khabarovsk Shipbuilding Yard.

The company has the capacity to build vessels with a displacement of up to 1,500 tons, including those made of aluminum-magnesium alloys and with dynamic support principles. The plant has contracts for the construction of two crab-fishing vessels, two sea tugs and an amphibious hovercraft.

The crab-fishing vessels are being built for Magadan-based fishing company Mag-Sea International Co., Ltd. The contracts take into account the investment-quota program, where crab-quotas are allocated for investment purposes (the winners of crab auctions must build crab-fishing vessels in Russian shipyards).

“The investment-quota mechanism created on the instructions of Russian President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin is working. New ships, crab-fishing vessels, are being built in the Far East. The mechanism helps enterprises that were previously in a difficult condition to come up,” Yury Trutnev noted.

The laying down of the crab-fishing vessels took place in April 2020. The vessels are designed for fishing for crab and shrimp with traps and longline fish, short-term storage of crab and fish catches in chilled seawater, processing of fishery objects into frozen products in cut and uncut form, storage of produced products and their transportation to ports.

The technical readiness of the crab-fishing vessels as of today (26.04.2022) is over 60%. The installation of equipment in the engine room, drying system, water fire extinguishing system, air and gauge pipes, ventilation and air conditioning systems, open deck scupper system, compressed air aeration system, seawater cooling system and painting of the surface and underwater part of the hull is in progress. Prior to this, the main engines had already been loaded onto both crab-fishing vessels. According to the investor, construction of the vessels is ahead of schedule and will be completed in 2023.

The plant’s management spoke about the portfolio of prospective orders. Negotiations are underway with Shipbuilding Complex Zvezda to build passenger vessel 22480. A contract is scheduled to be signed with Alaid in July to build a fishing vessel. The company is also ready to execute a defense order for the construction of the Murena-E assault hovercraft. The project is scheduled to be defended in July.

Yuri Trutnev during his visit to the company asked the Khabarovsk Shipbuilding Yard to submit a proposal for the construction of passenger vessels with justification of the cost of the order.

For reference:

Khabarovsk Shipbuilding Yard was founded in 1953 to build anti-submarine warfare ships for the Pacific Fleet. Over 65 years, the shipbuilding yard has built some 360 vessels, including more than 200 military vessels, including those for export to India, Syria, Cuba and the Republic of Korea.
