KIRF in Moscow: Businesses were introduced to investment opportunities in the Kuril Islands

A presentation of the investment potential of the Kuril Islands was held in Moscow. The event brought together over 200 participants—entrepreneurs, experts, representatives of business associations, and media. Foreign guests also attended, including representatives from the embassies of Kazakhstan, Korea, China, and India in Russia, the Union of Chinese Industrialists and Entrepreneurs in Russia, the China Association of Small and Medium Enterprises (CASME), and foreign companies.

The main topic was the possibilities of implementing investment projects in tourism and mariculture under one of the most advantageous preferential regimes in the country – KIRF (Kuril Islands of the Russian Federation). According to the Sakhalin Region Government, business interest in the Kuril Islands continues to grow. Over the past five years, approximately 50 billion rubles of budget funds have been allocated to developing the islands' infrastructure, attracting approximately 80 billion rubles of private investment. As Natalia Stokalskaya, Executive Director of VEB.RF's Business Unit, noted, more than 50 projects in the Russian Far East are currently being implemented using VEB.RF's concessional financing through the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East. Their total volume exceeds 1.6 trillion rubles. Approximately 135 billion rubles have already been provided.
