A meeting was held at the Chinese Embassy in Russia between the Director of the Department of Investment Development and International Cooperation of the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East Oleg Vakhtin and the Plenipotentiary Minister of the Chinese Embassy in Russia Liu Jun.
The parties discussed the implementation of the Unified Concept for the Development of Bolshoy Ussuriysky Island in Khabarovsk Region, including the construction of border infrastructure and a checkpoint. Among the priority tasks is the construction of border infrastructure and a checkpoint across the Russian-Chinese border. It is expected that by 2030 the cargo turnover here will be 1.3 million tons per year, the passenger flow – about 1.4 million people per year. The project is of the utmost strategic importance not only for the socio-economic development of the region, but also for the whole Russia.
