Owners of a greenhouse farm on Kamchatka's "Far Eastern hectares" will engage in rural tourism

Participants of the “Hectare” program, the Semikhatka family, who built a greenhouse complex and vegetable farm in the Yelizovsky district of Kamchatka Region, plan to develop rural tourism. Next to the greenhouses and fields, the farmers have planted an orchard and are setting up a tourist center. Ilya Semikhatka told the Far East and Arctic Development Corporation (FEDC) about his experience in using the "Far Eastern hectares" and plans for developing the project. "I have been involved in agriculture in Kamchatka for over 30 years. We could significantly develop the project thanks to the "Hectare" program. We took several plots for the whole family in addition to the existing leased land and built on them a greenhouse complex. Today we successfully compete with imported products, supplying the market with delicious natural vegetables grown in the ground. Considering the possibility of receiving additional free plots after developing the “Far Eastern hectares,” our whole family decided to develop the project in a new direction – we planted fruit orchards and are building a recreation center,” says Ilya Semikhatka, a participant in the “Hectare” program.
