Every tenth resident of the preferential regimes of the Far East and the Arctic creates a tourist infrastructure

The development of tourism infrastructure in the Far East and the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation was discussed by the participants of the plenary session of the Forum of Russian Regions, held in Moscow as part of the 25th international exhibition of the hospitality industry «PIR Expo» with the support of the Russian Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East and the Far East and Arctic Development Corporation (FEDC).

The demand for travel to the Far Eastern and Arctic regions is constantly growing. In 2021, more than 4 million people visited the Far Eastern Federal District and the Russian Arctic (38% more than in 2020).

“Thanks to the conditions created for residents of priority development areas, the free port of Vladivostok and the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation, the tourism sector is one of the leaders in terms of the number of new investment projects. Every tenth entrepreneur conducting investment activities under the Far Eastern and Arctic preferential regimes creates new points of attraction for Russian and foreign travelers. 31.7 billion rubles have already been invested in their implementation, 2.1 thousand jobs have been created. Today, more than 300 projects worth more than 126 billion rubles are being implemented in the territories of the Far Eastern Federal District and the Russian Arctic, which are designed to create 12 thousand jobs in the field of tourism and hospitality, of which 25 projects have already been successfully implemented,” said Nikolay Zapryagaev, Director General of the FEDC.
