The personnel shortage in the Far East's maritime industry was discussed at the Maritime Congress in Vladivostok

As part of the business program of the "Maritime Congress – Far East 2026," held in Vladivostok at the FEFU campus, a session entitled "Personnel for the Far East's Maritime Industry" was held. The session focused on providing shipbuilding, ship repair, port infrastructure, and the fishing fleet with qualified specialists. Participants discussed key labor market challenges, training mechanisms, and tools for retaining specialists in the region. The Far East and Arctic Development Corporation (FEDC) is actively participating in the event's business program.

Today, the labor shortage remains one of the main constraints on the development of the maritime industry in the Far East. Experts estimate that the implementation of new investment projects alone will require several thousand specialists of various qualifications in the coming years—from blue-collar workers to engineers and technologists. Furthermore, the average age of workers in certain segments of the industry exceeds 50, and competition for personnel is intensifying at the expense of other sectors of the economy.
