ISTC “Russkiy” presented in Beijing a model for localizing Chinese medical technologies in Russia

A roundtable discussion on Chinese medical product exports to Russia was held at the Changping International Medical Devices Cluster. Tatyana Shusharina, Deputy General Director of the “Russkiy” Innovation Scientific and Technological Center (ISTC) Development Fund, participated in the event.

During the presentation, the ISTC “Russkiy” was proposed as a platform for the localization of high-tech production of medical devices and the development of joint scientific and technological projects in the field of biomedicine.

The presentation presented the concept of a "China-Russia technology transfer factory." This is an environment in which developments are adapted to the requirements of the Russian market, followed by the launch of joint production. This approach entails a transition from a supply chain model to a "development-adaptation-production" format.

The proposed basic model is the creation of joint ventures with shared competencies. The Russian side will provide scientific and research support, including the infrastructure of FEFU and institutes of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, as well as access to developments and patents. The Chinese partners will contribute production solutions, equipment, and investment.

Companies have expressed interest in localizing development centers and pilot production facilities; negotiations have already begun with two of them regarding placement in the emerging Biomedicine scientific and educational cluster.
