“The "Far East – Land of Adventure" competition was created to help as many people in our country as possible learn about the amazing beauty of the Far Eastern regions and want to see it for themselves. The competition also has a practical side: with the help of the participants, an interactive map was created showcasing the best travel routes. The map has made it easier and more convenient to plan trips and better prepare for visiting selected destinations. We will continue this competition, helping develop tourism in the Far East, inviting people to conquer the taiga and tundra, the oceans and Lake Baikal, the Amur and Lena rivers, to see volcanoes and geysers, and to experience the unique and distinctive culture of the peoples inhabiting our country," said Yuri Trutnev.
The interactive map's development partner is the “IdiLesom” (“Go through the forest”) service, which has extensive experience in this field. The routes are based on films from competition participants, not only the winners and runners-up, but also those who were selected for judging but did not win a prize. Each location includes a route map with landmarks, original photographs and videos, a description of the route, the distance and time of the journey, information about elevation changes, and the coordinates of key points, so anyone can retrace the participant's journey. Additionally, it's possible to download a GPS track of the route to a phone or navigator, as well as plot a route back to the starting point. This is especially important when there's no cell service when traveling in remote locations.
