The infrastructure of the “Elginskoye” field is being developed with the support of the “Khabarovsk” ASEZ

As part of a press tour for federal and regional media, journalists visited the “Elginskoye” deposit in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), Russia's largest coking coal deposit and one of the world's largest.

Coal from the complex is delivered to the sea terminal via the Pacific Railway, built with the support of the “Khabarovsk” ASEZ. The project is being implemented under an agreement with the Far East and Arctic Development Corporation (FEDC).

"Today, we employ around eight thousand people at the field. We currently load 1,700 railcars per day. Due to the fact that we increased production volumes and carrying capacity, the railway couldn't handle the volumes we were producing. That's when the need for our own private railway arose. "We are currently the only company in Russia to have a private railway over 1,000 kilometers long. In April 2026, we set a historic record and shipped 3.3 million tons of coal," said Inna Losyuk, Managing Director of “Elgaugol”.

The Pacific Railway is the largest private railway in the country. It connects the Elga coal deposit in Yakutia and the shores of the Sea of Okhotsk in Khabarovsk Region.
