A state for the people: Large families in the Far East and the Arctic have been issued preferential mortgages totaling over 1 billion rubles

Since the program's expansion in late 2025, more than 200 large families in the Far East and Arctic have taken advantage of the "Far Eastern and Arctic Mortgage" program and received preferential housing loans totaling over 1 billion rubles. The program is implemented by the Ministry of the Russian Federation for the Development of the Far East and Arctic jointly with the Far East and Arctic Development Corporation (FEDC) and allows families to purchase or build housing at an interest rate of no more than 2% per annum.

In 2025, the program was expanded to new categories of citizens while maintaining its key parameters—a preferential rate of no more than 2% per annum. Eligibility was extended to large families, as well as to all employees of state and municipal educational institutions located in the constituent entities of the Far Eastern Federal District and in the land territories of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation, regardless of position, length of service, age, and marital status.

Sergey Potanin, Director of the FEDC's Department of Social Projects, noted that the “Far Eastern and Arctic Mortgage” program remains one of the most sought-after government support mechanisms aimed at improving the housing conditions of residents of the macroregion.
