The State Duma considered a package of bills aimed at regulating mining activities and adopted them in the first reading. The draft law "On Mining Activities" was prepared by the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East on behalf of the President of the Russian Federation. At the end of March of this year, the draft law was approved by the Government Commission on Legislative Activities, and in April it was submitted by the Government to the State Duma. The draft law "On Mining Activities" provides citizens of Russia with the opportunity to legally extract gold from non-commercial deposits using equipment of limited capacity. The document should regulate the mining of alluvial gold by individual entrepreneurs, determine the conditions for the implementation of artisanal activities, reduce illegal mining and circulation of precious metals and help to use the resources of former industrial deposits more efficiently.
