On February 28, the Arctic Day, the head of the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East Alexey Chekunkov spoke at a meeting of the Commission of the State Council of the Russian Federation on the Northern Sea Route and the Arctic. The agenda of the meeting included proposals for the formation of a comprehensive project for the development of the Arctic and the Northern Sea Route, as well as the preparation of the VI International Arctic Forum "The Arctic: Territory of Dialogue", which will be held on March 26-27, 2025 in Murmansk. The commission was chaired by the Governor of the Murmansk Region Andrey Chibis together with the Presidential Aide, Secretary of the State Council of the Russian Federation Alexey Dyumin. One of the goals of the meeting was to approve the issues that will be discussed within the framework of the upcoming International Arctic Forum. As the head of the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East noted, the most important cross-cutting project in the development of the Russian Arctic is the Northern Sea Route (NSR) and the tasks of implementing the plan for its development, as well as related investment projects, will be one of the key topics of the IAF-2025. "The Arctic is a global project, and the NSR is a global project for connections between Asia and Europe. Our priority is to implement it," Chekunkov emphasized.
