The Minister for the Development of the Russian Far East Alexey Chekunkov met with students of the Plekhanov Russian University of Economics and the university’s management

On February 26, the head of the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East, Alexey Chekunkov, met with students of the Plekhanov Russian University of Economics and discussed the relevance of the Far Eastern and Arctic agenda for the development of the economy of modern Russia and its international relations. He also spoke about the opportunities that are increasingly opening up for students and young professionals in the regions of the Far East for life and work, about business support measures, investment policy trends, and, of course, the unique natural resources of the macro-regions. The meeting was attended by the rector of the university Ivan Lobanov. The discussion was moderated by the director of the Institute "First Academy of Media" (FAM) Ernest Matskyavichyus. "The Far East and the Arctic are what distinguishes Russia fr om the rest of the world. A storehouse of everything valuable and necessary for our economy. At the same time, many of the laws of the market here, as in all of Russia, are implemented differently than in other countries. Simply because the population and infrastructure density here are significantly lower. Don't listen to those who say that it is bad to extract natural resources, that oil and gas production is a raw materials appendage. On the contrary. This is Russia's strong point, our strategic advantage. In addition, this is a very high-tech business. We need to occupy precisely those niches wh ere we are strong," Alexey Chekunkov told the students.
