The head of the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East, Alexei Chekunkov, reported on measures to develop the electric power industry in the Far East at parliamentary hearings in the State Duma

The State Duma Committee for the Development of the Far East and Arctic held parliamentary hearings on "Improving the Legal Framework for the Development of the Fuel and Energy Complex in the Far East and Arctic." Alexey Chekunkov, Minister for the Development of the Far East and Arctic, participated in the hearings.

In her speech, Deputy Chairperson of the State Duma Irina Yarovaya emphasized that, in accordance with the President's instructions, the Government must develop a development strategy for the Far Eastern Federal District through 2036 by September 1, 2026.

"I propose including a separate section in this strategy on the development of the fuel and energy sector in the Far East. I propose including such special sections on the development of the fuel and energy sector in the Far East and Arctic regions in the action plan for implementing the country's Energy Strategy. Then we will have a unified strategic document, and it will be clear that the objective set by the President is primarily a task for the relevant ministries," Irina Yarovaya suggested.

One of the most important issues, according to the Deputy Chairman of the State Duma, is the formation of tariffs, since “this determines the possibility of business development and the solvency of the population.”
