Soelma Zaptueva received a hectare of land for free in the Muisky District of the Republic of Buryatia and became a student of the project "Academy for Participants of the “Hectare” Program". The family plans to open an agricultural production facility for breeding horses and a fruit farm on the land received for free. The author of the project and participant of the “Hectare” program, Soelma Zaptueva, told the Far East and Arctic Development Corporation (FEDC) about her experience of receiving free land and further plans for implementing the project.
Soelma and Aleksandr Zaptuyev grew up in the countryside of the Republic of Buryatia and the Irkutsk Region, and they know and can farm firsthand. When their children grew up, they thought about starting their own business on the land – in peace, quiet, and away fr om the hustle and bustle. They got horses – now their herd consists of three mares and two foals. They learned about the “Hectare” program from the media and decided to take a plot of land in the forest, next to the Tuldun River, wh ere migratory birds – ducks and geese – fly in the spring.
"The procedure for registering the land was very quick, and under a gratuitous use agreement we became the owners of a forest plot of one hectare. We immediately began planning the future territory and the project for creating a peasant farm," says Soelma Zaptueva.
"My husband and I are of pre-retirement age," smiles Soelma Zaptueva. "I am 47, he is 55, our children are already adults and are building their own lives. And thanks to the “Hectare” program, we will be able to realize our long-standing dream of a horse farm and a life in harmony with nature."
