Gasan Gasanbalaev: Two new creative clusters will open in the Far East in 2026

Successful practices of creative clusters in the Russian Far East and mechanisms for state support for residents were discussed at the International Creative Industries Forum during the strategic session "Creative Clusters as Drivers of Residents' Economic Growth." Dmitry Barsenkov, CEO of the “Oktava” Creative Industrial Cluster, moderated the session. The Creative Industries Forum, "Created in the Far East: From Content to Capital," opened on May 21, 2026, in Ulan-Ude.

Gasan Gasanbalaev, Deputy General Director for Social Development at the Far East and Arctic Development Corporation (FEDC), emphasized that clusters are a key element of the creative ecosystem, transforming the surrounding environment and creating new economic sectors in the regions. In 2022, the first state-owned creative cluster in the Far East, "Kvartal Truda," was launched in Yakutsk.

"This is a truly successful project; many regions, inspired by it, have begun submitting applications to create their own clusters. In 2023, we supported the creation of three new clusters—in Ulan-Ude, Blagoveshchensk, and Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. This September, during the Eastern Economic Forum, we plan to launch a cluster in Ulan-Ude. Another cluster will open this year in Kamchatka. We hope to complete the creative cluster in Blagoveshchensk by the end of 2027," Gasanbalaev said.
