The “Biraria” Ethnofestival in the Jewish Autonomous Region will combine culture, tourism, and creative industries

On June 20, 2026, the village of Teploozersk in the Jewish Autonomous Region will host the 3rd “Biraria” Ethnofest (6+), timed to coincide with the national holiday of the indigenous peoples of the Amur region – the Evenki New Year, “Hebdenek”. The festival, supported by the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives and the Far East and Arctic Development Corporation, will feature cultural, gastronomic, tourism, and educational programs.

The festival will once again take place in the Lesser Khingan region—a unique natural and cultural space in the Amur region, where hills, rivers, and lakes blend with the distinctive heritage of the indigenous Evenki and Nanai peoples. The organizers position "Biraria" as a cultural and tourism brand for the Amur region, uniting the traditions of the indigenous peoples and Russian settlers.

The festival is becoming a driver of domestic and inbound tourism in the Jewish Autonomous Region. The region is working on a tourism development strategy through 2026, and the “Tiger Valley” is gradually emerging as a new attraction for travelers from the Far East and border areas of China.
