Investment projects on “Bolshoy Ussuriysky” Island require a special regime of benefits

In Khabarovsk, Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation – Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Far Eastern Federal District Yuri Trutnev held a meeting on the development of “Bolshoy Ussuriysky” Island. “Bolshoy Ussuriysky” Island, with a total area of 254 square kilometers, is located on the Amur River on the territory of the Russian Federation and the People's Republic of China. In 2008, as a result of the demarcation of the eastern section of the Russian-Chinese border, the island was divided into Russian and Chinese parts. On the Russian part of the island there are: a bridge across the Amur channel (two lanes), a road, a former fortified area with an area of 610 thousand square meters, agricultural lands (outlined by a polder flood control system), and a border zone. The unified concept for the development of the island, adopted in 2024 in the presence of the leaders of the two states, relies to a significant extent on the recreational, educational, and tourist potential with the integration of infrastructure and various formats of business, congress, and exhibition cooperation between Russia and China. In pursuance of the instructions of the President of Russia, the Government of Russia adopted a "road map" for the implementation of the project for the development of “Bolshoy Ussuriysky” Island, prepared an architectural and urban planning concept, and initiated a procedure for expanding the boundaries of the “Khabarovsk” ASEZ to the Russian part of the island and land plots on the main shore. Yuri Trutnev also instructed the Ministry of Finance of Russia and the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East to prepare proposals for providing investors with additional benefits.
