According to Gadzhimagomed Huseynov, First Deputy Minister of the Russian Federation for the Development of the Far East, binding agreements were signed between the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East, the state corporation Rosatom and cargo owners regarding the annual provision of cargo traffic along the Northern Sea Route.
The target indicator of cargo traffic for 2022 set by the federal project "Development of the Northern Sea Route", was exceeded by 2 million tons. On a quarterly basis, cargo owners send information to the Coordinating Center of the Government of the Russian Federation about the current forecast of their cargo traffic along the Northern Sea Route and the need for a cargo fleet.
The construction of the cargo fleet necessary to achieve the targets by 2024 and 2030 was also discussed. The total confirmed need for the construction of cargo ships to meet the obligations of the companies in terms of cargo traffic is 41 ships.
One of the target indicators of the federal project "Development of the Northern Sea Route" is the capacity of seaports. In 2022, this figure reached 32.28 million tons (against the planned value of 32 million tons). In 2023 and 2024, the targets of 36 million tons and 83 million tons, respectively, are also expected to be achieved on time.
