Residents of the Far East are invited to participate in the development of a 10-year development strategy for the district

Following the Eastern Economic Forum in 2025, Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered to work out a new strategy for the socio-economic development of the Far Eastern Federal District through 2030, with a forecast through 2036.

Thanks to the implementation of the previous strategy, which was in effect until 2025, significant results were achieved. Over the past 10 years, fixed capital investment in the Far East has doubled. Annual housing construction increased by 1.5 times, construction by 2.2 times, and mining by 1.4 times. The growth rates of these indicators in the Far East exceeds the Russian average. Regional revenues have increased by 2.3 times over 10 years.

For the first time in 30 years, migration trends have changed. In 2024, 24,000 more people arrived in the Far East than left.

The Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East, the Federal State Budgetary Institution "Vostokgosplan," the Far East and Arctic Development Corporation, together with federal authorities and the heads of the Far Eastern Federal District regions, are preparing a strategy for the period up to 2036. The goal of the new strategy is to create a high-tech, diversified economy and develop modern infrastructure, creating conditions for sustainable population growth and ensuring the Far Eastern Federal District's key role in cooperation with Asia-Pacific countries.

The document is structured around five objectives: overcoming infrastructure constraints, launching a new investment and technology cycle, developing science and technology, creating better conditions for residents, and climate adaptation.

The draft Far Eastern Federal District Development Strategy must be submitted to the Russian Government for review by July 15. According to the Russian President's instructions, the document must be approved by August 1.

The Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East is organizing a series of public discussions of the draft strategy with the participation of regional authorities. Such strategy sessions have already taken place in Vladivostok, Khabarovsk, Magadan, Birobidzhan, Anadyr, and Yakutsk.
