The future of Russian-Chinese relations and partnership was discussed at the plenary session of “AmurExpo” in Blagoveshchensk

The partnership between Russia and China in the context of an emerging multipolar world, interregional cross-border cooperation, and international advanced development areas in the Far East and Amur Region were discussed at the plenary session "Amur Corridor to the Future: Russia and China – From Good Neighborliness to Joint Growth," held at the “AmurExpo-2026” forum (AEF), which took place in Blagoveshchensk from May 21 to 24.

"The topic of the plenary session is very symbolic – it's about the bridges that connect us – Russia and China. We are located in a unique city right on the border between the two countries. It has a special atmosphere. We have extensive experience collaborating with our Chinese partners, which is yielding tangible results. In 2025, trade turnover with China increased by 45%, and passenger traffic by 16%. Traffic on the Blagoveshchensk-Heihe international bridge has doubled, and we forecast it will continue to grow. The launch of the cable car is coming soon. We continue to expand our transit potential, working on a new bridge project between “Jalinda” and “Mohe”, with potential access to the Northern Sea Route. Yesterday, we opened the “Blagoveshchensk Dry Port”, the largest container rail terminal in the region. This year, we expect the launch of the Amur Gas Chemical Complex, a joint project between “SIBUR” and “Sinopec”. The oil extraction plant of the “Sodruzhestvo” Group of Companies will also begin operations. New growth opportunities could arise from projects in renewable energy and space. We are focusing on developing logistics, e-commerce, tourism, and education, given the mutual visa-free regime, new preferential regimes, and new areas of cooperation. I am confident that these areas will define the development of business cooperation between Russia and China in the coming years," noted Amur Region Governor Vasily Orlov.
