On the initiative of the Russian Glamping Association and with the support of the Far East and Arctic Development Corporation, an agreement on cooperation in promoting the investment potential of the Kuril Islands and attracting investors specializing in the development of glamping to the Sakhalin Region was signed on September 6 on the sidelines of the IX Eastern Economic Forum. The agreement was signed by Zhanna Kira, President of the Glamping Support Association, and Kirill Kamenev, Deputy General Director of the Far East and Arctic Development Corporation.
The first glamping sites in the Sakhalin Region already exist. The most famous of them is the premium-class island glamping site "Kunashir Resort and SPA". According to Zhanna, today it is definitely one of the top five in the country: "This is an amazing place, one of the best projects in Russia, given that it was built so far from the infrastructure."
According to the head of the Association, the Sakhalin Region is ready to receive tourists. "The Kuril Islands are our answer to Iceland. We need to organize new places for accommodation. The glamping format will give tourists the opportunity to visit the most unique locations, see and preserve nature as much as possible. We have already discussed with the Governor of the region the need to increase transport links with the Kuril Islands. This way, tourist traffic will be even greater."
