Alexey Chekunkov: Trade turnover between China and the Russian Far East has doubled in three years

Head of the Russian Ministry of Eastern Development Alexey Chekunkov took part in a press conference dedicated to the launch of the “Made in Russia” festival-fair in China by the Russian Export Center. The press conference was held on the eve of the First Festival-Fair of Russian Goods in China, which will be held from January 27 to February 5, 2024 in the cities of Dalian and Shenyang, Liaoning Province. It was also attended by the Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation Olga Lyubimova, the Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation Oleg Matytsin, the General Director of the Russian Export Center (part of VEB.rf) Veronika Nikishina, the Plenipotentiary Minister of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Russian Federation Liu Xuesong and the trade representative of the Russian Federation in the People's Republic of China Alexey Dakhnovsky. Last December, Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin, as well as Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko, announced the holding of the first festival-fair of Russian goods “Made in Russia” in the cities of the Chinese province of Liaoning with an extensive cultural and sports program. The event is timed to coincide with the Chinese New Year holidays and will be held in the cities of Shenyang and Dalian. Almost 130 exporters from 30 regions of the country will take part in the fair and present about 1,400 types of Russian goods. Alexey Chekunkov spoke about the development of trade turnover between the Russian Far East and China: “... In three years, trade turnover between China and the Far East has doubled. This is felt at every border crossing. In 2023, cargo turnover at road checkpoints in the Far East more than doubled, at railway checkpoints increased by 30%, and container turnover increased by 22%. Chinese partners are implementing projects in the Far East with a total volume of more than $20 billion.”
