The construction of buildings for scientific departments and laboratories of the “SakhalinTech” campus of Sakhalin State University (SakhSU) is nearing completion. Research activities will begin in the new academic year. SakhSU has already announced tenders for the purchase of equipment and the hiring of future employees. The campus of the advanced engineering school is being built on the territory of the Sakhalin Oil and Gas Industrial Park.
The new campus buildings will house a student design bureau, educational laboratories, the Microelectronics Center, the “Sber” Artificial Intelligence Center, the “Gazprombank” research center, and a joint department with the “Gazprom Dobycha Shelf” company.
Director of the Department of Human Resources Development of the Far East and Arctic Development Corporation (FEDC) Yuri Prokhorov: “The development of education and science for oil and gas production enterprises is one of the main areas of work of SakhSU. This work is supported by the state and a set of measures provided for by the program for the development of universities “Priority 2030. Far East”. The strategic plan for the development of the university provides for its transformation into a center of science and education for the development of the economy of the Sakhalin Region in a number of areas. Among them are the most modern: hydrogen and "green" technologies, environmental and climate projects."
The Sakhalin Oil and Gas Industrial Park is located in the northern part of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk on a plot of 55.67 hectares. This territory has a special legal regime for entrepreneurial activity with tax benefits and administrative preferences. The project is planned to be implemented in 2 stages. Today, there are 10 companies that are residents of the park.
