Working trip of the head of the Russian Ministry of Eastern Development to the Amur Region

Minister for the Development of the Far East and Arctic Alexey Chekunkov completed his working trip to the Amur region. During the trip, the minister visited a number of enterprises and transport and logistics infrastructure facilities. In particular, the construction site for a cross-border cable car across the river Amur between Blagoveshchensk and Heihe. Once construction is completed, up to 2.5 million people a year will be able to cross the border between Russia and China in just a couple of minutes. The working trip also included a visit to the “Kani-Kurgan” automobile checkpoint and the customs and logistics terminal of the same name. “The construction readiness of the checkpoint is high. It will be completed in 2024,” said Alexey Chekunkov. Work at the site is carried out around the clock, 380 people and 50 units of construction equipment are involved. Construction readiness is more than 40%. A permanent checkpoint will significantly increase the flow of cargo and passenger traffic. The minister called the “Kani-Kurgan” transport and logistics complex one of the promising platforms for international cooperation within the framework of the emerging International priority development territories (IPDT). The State Duma adopted the bill on IPDT in the first reading; it is expected that it will be fully considered by parliament in the spring session. A working meeting on the implementation of a large-scale integrated development project was held at the construction site of the Far Eastern quarter in Blagoveshchensk. The new area will provide 334 thousand square meters of affordable housing, landscaped courtyard, school, kindergarten, sports ground, embankment, park, medical center. 33.9 billion rubles are invested in construction.
