The new resident of the "Buryatia" ASEZ will provide fuel to the Gusinoozerskaya GRES, increasing coal production to 3.5 million tons per year

The “Ugolny Razrez” company received the status of a resident of the “Buryatia” priority development area for the development of the “Okino-Klyuchevskoye” brown coal deposit in the Republic of Buryatia. The result of the project implementation will be an increase in the volume of brown coal production and shipment to 3.5 million tons per year to meet the growing needs of the Gusinoozerskaya GRES with a capacity of 1,224 MW. The project is scheduled to be commissioned in 2028. According to the agreement with the Far East and Arctic Development Corporation (FEDC), investments in the project will amount to 13.7 billion rubles, creating 89 jobs. Gusinoozerskaya GRES supplies electricity to consumers in Buryatia and neighboring regions, as well as thermal energy to the city of Gusinoozersk with a population of over 24 thousand people. From 2022 to 2024, the 1st, 2nd and 3rd power units of the station were modernized. Given the current increased demand for electricity, the station's load will increase. One solution to meet demand could be the construction of a new power unit at Gusinoozerskaya GRES. “In order for the “Ugolny Razrez” company’s project to be able to obtain resident status and benefit from a significant range of government support measures, the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East, the FEDC and regional authorities, together with the investor, have taken measures to expand the boundaries of the “Buryatia” priority development area.” FEDC will lease the land to the new resident for the construction of the railway on preferential terms. We ensure the application of the necessary benefits and preferences to the project, which is important for the entire republic, and comprehensively support the resident's activities. These benefits will help implement the project within the specified timeframe and in the stated characteristics," - Director of FEDC “Buryatia” Dmitry Khameruev.
