The Corporation for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic (FEDC), with the support of the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East, has prepared an analytical review of the labor market of the Far East in the mining industry. For the Far East, mining is one of the key sources of GRP formation: the industry’s share in the total GRP of the Far Eastern Federal District in 2021 amounted to slightly less than a third - 31.3%. Since 2016, 84 projects in the mining industry have been implemented in the Far Eastern Federal District with an investment volume of 1.3 billion rubles, of which 418 billion rubles have already been invested in basic production assets. In this regard, the labor market in this area is actively developing and offers a wide range of career opportunities. Mining is one of the top four industries experiencing an increase in the number of employees. Since 2018, the increase in employment has amounted to more than 10 thousand people, or 7%. The training of personnel in mining is becoming one of the key tasks and challenges for the education system. To solve this problem, at the beginning of 2023, the universities of Chita, Vladivostok, Khabarovsk, Yakutsk and Magadan formed a consortium for the training of miners in order to integrate educational, scientific organizations, interested companies in the mining, energy and other industries in order to develop scientific research and training programs for engineering personnel for the mining industry of the Far East, taking into account the tasks of its innovative development.
