The mining industry of the Far East and the Arctic requires the development of distributed generation

The Far East and Arctic Development Corporation (FEDC), together with the “Mining Industrialists of Russia” NP, held an expert session on the specifics of industry development in the macroregion as part of the “Mining Industry: Investment Projects and Support Measures” forum. According to the moderator of the session, head of the energy and housing and communal services department of the FEDC Maxim Gubanov, the development of the mining industry in the Far East and the Arctic has its own characteristic features, which are important for business profitability. First of all, this is the location of solid mineral deposits in remote and isolated areas where there is no access to a centralized energy infrastructure, which necessitates the construction of local energy centers. Based on the results of the discussions, the session participants proposed forming a working group on the development of local energy under the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia with the involvement of interested consumers, manufacturers, equipment suppliers, investors in distributed generation and scientific organizations that could take part in the development of effective domestic technologies, ensuring their production and use in mining enterprises.
