Alexey Chekunkov took part in a meeting of the Council for the Development of the Far East, Arctic and Antarctic under the Federation Council

On April 4, the Council for the Development of the Far East, Arctic and Antarctic under the Federation Council held a meeting, dedicated to the development of the logistics potential of the regions of the Far East. First Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Federal Structure, Regional Policy, Local Self-Government and Northern Affairs, Chairwoman of the Council for the Development of the Far East, Arctic and Antarctic under the Federation Council Galina Karelova noted that the development of the Far Eastern transport and logistics complex is a priority strategic task. Its importance is due to the reorientation of foreign trade cargo flows from West to East, which significantly increases the load on the logistics infrastructure of the Far East. Head of the Russian Ministry of Eastern Development Alexey Chekunkov made a report on the implementation of the logistics potential of the regions of the Far East to the Council participants. “The transit role of the Far East as a logistics super-region, as a logistics crossroads, has traditionally been very high. However, especially in the last two years, when the directions of cargo flows changed sharply, when the western, northwestern, and southwestern routes were closed, the role of the Far East has increased significantly.” “The number of transport and logistics investment projects being implemented in the Far East is growing,” noted the head of the Ministry of Eastern Development. - Residents of preferential regimes are implementing 495 such projects worth 906 billion rubles, creating 55 thousand new jobs. Among the largest logistics projects are the first grain railway terminal Zabaikalsk-Manchuria in the Trans-Baikal Region with a capacity of 8 million tons per year, a specialized seaport in Sukhodol Bay in the Primorsky Region with a capacity of 12 million tons per year (LLC “Sea Port Sukhodol”).” A successful example of the implementation of projects with state support is the construction of bridge cross-border crossings Blagoveshchensk - Heihe and Nizhneleninskoye - Tongjiang on the Russian-Chinese border. Last year, 3.8 million tons of cargo were transported along them. In the future, their total potential is estimated at up to 30 million tons per year.
